My drive reports 8 bad sector and climbing to 40 bad sector. I got a really amazing RMA experience with my 2TB Barracuda ( worth 70 US$) with the international warranty option. Seagates representative for RMA in my country(indonesia) isn't really good at receiving RMA complaints, However, I mainly relegate it to cold storage for some important docs. The only other HDD I have used is a 750gb HGST out of a laptop which still works about 7 years later but I hardly ever use it now because of the low capacity. But I have doubts about their long-term reliability. Seagates are less expensive and usually have better speed than the WD Reds because they're 7200rpm vs 5400rpm. I have yet to have any of my WD drives fail but these are all under a year old still. I now pretty much stick to only WD Red drives for internal drives and WD MyPassport 3.0 drives for externals. To be fair, I did not realize what I was doing, ran them in RAID, wrote tons of data to them and wore em out.

The 2x Archive HDDs shit the bed and I felt it better just to replace them with something else. The 1tb and 3tb Barracudas I gave to my sister to use as I replaced them with higher capacity drives. The 250gb USB 2.0 died after around five years of heavy use with Windows VMs at school. The 1tb USB 2.0 is still trucking 3 years after I bought it and with heavy use. But I've had six Seagate drives in the past: I'm not so sure I'd trust Seagate now given the high failure rates they experience. oh well, looks like I threw away $300 despite the warnings. You're telling me 3rd party tools that can read SMART is fine to use for RMA processes but your colleague is telling me it won't be replaced because SeaTools insists it's working just fine.

We also understand that Seatools software confirms that the drive is working fine. We understand that you have tested the drive with a third party software and found that there is bad sectors on the drive. Now I'm stuck with a $300 drive that's reallocating sectors on a daily basis.Ĭan't upload another screenshot because puu.sh is temporarily down but I received this earlier

And now they're trying to explain to me how to check SMART with SeaTools for no reason. I attached a picture of the screenshot and asked support if it would get approved and they approved it, so I printed the screenshot and put it in the package, but now I've been told that my drive will not be replaced because SeaTools reported no issues with it when they tested it.
